The g is silent in "gnocchi"

While eating some trail mix yesterday, I noticed that the label listed pepitas as one of the ingredients. Which is Spanish for pumpkin seeds. But doesn't it sound fancier as "pepitas?"

Same goes for the croque monsieur - basically a hot ham and cheese sandwich.

And the exotic-sounding cuba libre drink? Rum and coke, people.

Things just sound better in foreign languages. Although not sure about Backpfeifengesicht, which means "a face in need of a fist" in German. Might just be easier to punch someone.
